Miniature Worlds
Photo shoot 1
Blehhhh, an analysis. I don't like doing analysie of any kind. Welllllll... one of the main points of discussion is that my pictures have been digitally edited, this is because when I transferred the images from the cameras flash card to the desktop they turned out under exposed even tho they weren't on the camera. Therefore I had to brighten them and tweak some other things about them in Photoshop giving a slightly unrealistic look to them. Right... right.... umm whats next on the agenda. I think I used to much, as in I had to many things going on. Maybe if I limited myself to one character and only a few more spread out props I could of crated a better image. Othhher than that.... nothing too cataclysmic happened, got good view point and a nice depth. The background does feel rather fake but the weather was rather bad, hopefully I will move outside next shoot. Another side note, since my work was at ground level, most of my photos had to be at an elevated angle. When I next do my shoot I plan to raise my work space so I can photograph from all angles.
WWWVery detailed
Looks like you've spent a lot of time setting it up I like the story behind this |
EBIChange the white balance
The shadows are distracting from the scene Try adding colors to contrast |
To improve i willTry a different prop or set of props as well as making sure all my camera settings are adjusted correctly.

Photoshoot 2
Ok so I realized that I used way to much and had so many things going on in the last shoot, plus the fact my pictures were horrid and I had to digitally overhaul them but then they looked even worse... so I made sure I had my stuff (less of it) MADE ABSOLUTELY SURE I had my camera set up correctly. Then let my flow, like the beats of a vocaloid, takeover and create a masterpiece out of me. What im saying is I was better this time... at least I think.

So I didn't have to mess about in photoshop for ages with these... well I did but I didn't have to. They had clarity and depth, my two favorite 'fancy art' words.
|
So my focus was off at best and my hands are not steady things so I did end up getting alot of blurred shots. Editing can only go so far, like my di... gital zoom.

First rule about miniature people photography club, is don't talk about miniature people photography club. Anyways, UNDERGROUND TINY PERSON FIGHT!!! yea so the reasoning behind this is that I kinda just rolled with what happened and then one thing lead to the lighting and just... everything worked so well.
these are totally and utterly unedited (i know it weird for me to) but i just didn't thunk they needed anything done to them.

What could I do better |
Thought put in about the background and the photos surroundings.
There is not way to many props or other things that clutter the picture. Pictures are consistent and composed well. |
Lighting could be changed for a darker more ominous effect.
Could think more about the use of aperture. Try to take photos from more angles around the scene |
Next shoot I will try to use the lighting more effectively, maybe I could use a gel to provide the amount of light as a studio light but the tungsten glow of an old bulb.

Its The Final Camera Check.... dununun dun (I've already used this joke)
So I did my final shoot. Well done me!! With Rupert's help, I got "lower and closer" with my photos. This provided a new perspective that would put the viewer into the scene instead of around it. It went well is what i'm saying.

What I could have done |
Very good view points with neat placement of the camera.
Lighting is much better and adds a 'dynamic' effect. Shots are from opposite sides of the scene and provide clarity. |
More photos could have been taken that were to upload.
Props could have been more organised and refined to look more professional |
If I were to redo this shoot i might have used something better for the fight ring as in the photo directly above you can see I missed some boundary tape as well as the posts have visible blue-tack on them. If I had planned better i might of been able to use a toy ring or build one ect....

So what did I choose for my final piece?
Well it was that one of course, you know the one I always thought I would have since the very start. Obviously...
Explination
Well I'll start with the idea behind this photo. The theme was the behind the scenes, (well it is now anyway so...) as of this i chose two main focuses for my work. 1: Was the construction. In my lifetime I've never actually seen all that many construction workers actually building a massive skyscraper or something like that with my own two eyes, leading me to believe its always behind the scenes work. 2: 'The Underground' I genuinely don't know if this is real or not but its always interested me, underground cage fights , black markets and all that jazz. You don't see it or hear about it but I must be there so where is it? Behind the scenes of course.
Photo idea
So the photo itself is from the view point of a cage fighter, facing his imminent doom. This created the sense that the viewer is not watching the fight take place, but is instead in the fight themselves!
Critique
This last photo went through many stages of editing, mainly just to see what I could do with the colours. I first started with the original coloration and fixed some of the yellows that were slightly green-ish, Then i brought the saturation down to make the photo look light it was very washed out. From here I debated with myself about if I should make the photo black and white, after some more of me constantly taking the saturation down I just decided to make it black and white anyway. As for the composition aspects, The blur on the background crowd has just became a small mess, maybe if I had taken the photo in full focus then it would have came out better... as for the rest of the shot. It's quite good! I off centered the figure to draw more attention to it but the one foused part of the tape draws the attention back to the left hand side... (Good job me!).
